Research theme 1 on climate and weather information: What information on climate services do you need?
In this online discussion forum on June 30 at 11:30 am London time we will discuss the BRACED Knowledge Manager research theme on climate and weather information, which is still under development. The KM plans to produce an ‘evidence digest’ on this topic, synthesizing existing information and state-of-the-art in climate services. We would like to discuss ideas for this theme and what to include in the digest.

We will collate responses at the end of the discussion forum and propose a set of ‘Learning Lounge discussions’ (we will tell you about this in a bit) and webinars as well as a resilience briefing paper on state-of-the-art in climate services

BRACED Myanmar through partner RIMES is developing regional climate profiles based on past local weather station data provided by department of meteorology and hydrology. This will estimate return periods for significant climate events. At present there is limited climate information/data at local level for Myanmar

Agrhymet and Cilss provide regional and seasonal forecasts West African region

Agrhymet provides with climate services. This is about cooling climate information with socio economic data in the project area (Tillabery)
and making analysis based on that. -
NDMA's monthly bulletins at the county level in Kenya provide information about rainfall, state of water resources, vegetation condition, and puts it alongside information on conflict, food prices, nutrition status

We use AGRHYMET and CILSS for agro meteorological data and ACF-I is very useful for pastoral and fodder resources info
